Yes. Such a short word. But so daring, with so many unknowns ahead. But again, we have said it. “Yes, we’ll go to China. Yes, we’ll bring home a child who needs a mommy and a daddy … a forever family.”
Mei Xiang is her name … a beautiful blessing, ‘beautiful fragrance.’ In English it would be close to May-she-ana. The ‘ahna’ pronunciation, like in Spanish.
Mei Xiang was only a couple days old when she was discovered, by a bank building, wrapped in a towel. Orphange workers took her in, raised her with many others just like her … now, 7.5 years later, she and five others in her age bracket are finally finding their forever families! We are so blessed that we are one of them.
A seven year old? Why? Isn’t that going to be hard? We’re getting used to the questions already. But we are convinced this is what God has in mind. He led us to her. He has given us an empty place in our hearts and then filled it with his love. Now our hearts long to bring her home … so she can meet the family that she’s been waiting for so long. Of course t here will be difficulties. Adoption, yes, parenting itself, is not easy. But we know the Source of all love, strength, comfort, and peace. And His supply is unlimited.
We will post more later. And, as soon as China allows us to, we will post photos!
Thanks for joining the journey!

Her name is beautiful! I was unaware of how to pronounce it. I love it!
Tom & Family:
I saw you at school the other day and did not have time to chat, unfortunately. Huge, huge congratulations to all of you! Wow! We are so happy! I am an adopted kid myself, (obviously not Asian!...but still...) What a cool experience for you and all your kids to live out as well! Take care and best wishes from the Strickland Family
