May 23, 2008: We have just received our PA from China. That means they have approved us for adopting Mei Xiang, so long as we send in our paperwork and all the paperwork meets their approval. Practically speaking, it means that we may now share Mei Xiang's photos!
Please pray with us that we are able to get all the paperwork together quickly, and that the process moves quickly from here on out. So much of this is out of our control, but we are trying to be patient and trust the Lord's timing. As those of you who have been in the world of adopting know, it isn't easy to not fret over the timing, to grow impatient and frustrated. Pray that we will have the Lord's peace.
We are blessed to know a group of families adopting 6 & 7 year olds from Mei Xiang's orphanage, including Mei Xiang's best friend. The wonderful news is that they will all be in America and have that in common. The hard part is that they will all be adopted far before Mei Xiang. We hope that Mei Xiang will be able to understand that we are coming as soon as we can.
Specifically, we need our homestudy agency's quick action to help us get our dossier done; we need CIS approval as soon thereafter as possible; and we need wisdom on the best timing and coordination of document filing, to get our fully authenticated dossier to China asap. After that we wait ... between 2 and 4 months ... for our next China approval letter. And then, we wait another 6-8 weeks before we travel.
Final prayer request for the day: We have to raise a boatload of money to complete this adoption - at least $25,000! Pray that we will have wisdom and supernatural provision, too.
